Spiders

Get Rid of Spiders Naturally Without Chemical Pesticides Using Our Organic Cedar Oil Insecticide

To kill or not to kill spiders is a personal choice that can be difficult to make. Spiders often benefit humans by consuming undesirable insects, but too many of the wrong species is never a good thing. Venomous spiders found in the United States include the black widow, the brown recluse, the hobo spider and the mouse spider. They are considered quite dangerous to farmers, foresters, gardeners, landscapers and the like. Non venomous spiders include the funnel web grass spider, the trap door spider, the orb-weaving spider and the huntsman spider. Random bites inflicted by non venomous spiders are generally not serious, but allergic or anaphylactic reactions can occur in individuals with sensitive immune systems. If you or someone you love is allergic to spiders, a comprehensive home treatment program should be considered mandatory.

Outdoor Treatment Steps

If your goal is to reduce spider populations outdoors, apply a four-foot wide band of our organic outdoor formula around the foundation of your home. (One gallon of concentrate makes 32 gallons of solution that can easily be distributed with our hose end sprayer.) Not only will this reduce existing populations, it will leave a powerful residual aroma that repels insects for up to a month. Better still, cedar oil kills the mold that many insects feed upon. Mulch beds and shrub clusters can quickly become fertile breeding grounds for mold and various insects that spiders love to eat. Feel free to treat plants and flower beds directly. Our outdoor formula was designed to control crop pests without harming vegetation.

Indoor Treatment Steps

TREAT BASEBOARDS: Clear dust and cobwebs from baseboards and spray our indoor formula generously along the seams where walls and floors intersect. It’s a great idea to clean floors and remove miscellaneous clutter before treatment starts. Clutter and dust can provide endless hiding places for spiders and the insects they feed upon.

MIST BEDS AND COUCHES: Spiders aren’t attracted to people, but they can inadvertently wander up bed or sofa legs. When threatened by the presence of a much larger creature, they may bite. If you’re concerned about spiders wandering through private resting places, mist couches, mattresses and bed legs with our indoor formula. Pay special attention to the underside of sofas and beds, where egg sacs can often be found. (The formula will dissolve eggs.) Spiders hate the smell of cedar oil and refrain from crawling up treated furniture. You may also spray mattresses, couches and all carpeted areas surrounding the bed. Unlike humans, spiders have an open circulatory system and therefore do not breathe through their mouth. Instead, spiders breathe through four respiratory organs found on their underside. They are thus very sensitive to fumes.

TREAT YOUR BASEMENT: No spider treatment program would be complete without a good overhaul of the basement. Spray baseboards, unfinished wood beams and crevices where your basement ceiling meets the ground floor. Spiders tend to prefer dark and dry spots, but they certainly aren’t opposed to conquering wet or moldy areas where other insects hide. A damp or moldy environment where insects flourish can easily become a fertile hunting ground for spiders. Make every effort to keep your basement dry and mold free.

KEEP YOUR HOME FREE OF CLUTTER: Avoid storing unused items in boxes, as they are easily penetrated by spiders and insects alike. Opt for plastic storage bins with airtight lids or giant zip lock bags designed for storage. Clothes should not be kept on the floor. Laundry piles provide wonderful hiding places for the brown recluse spider, whose bites can be deadly.

GET RID OF HOUSEPLANTS: If spiders are a serious long-term problem, you may want to consider scaling down the number of houseplants you keep. A variety of insects can be brought into the home through potting soil. Cultivating your own eco system indoors is a sure fire way to sustain an insect problem. If you just can’t part with your beloved plants, try misting them with a bit of our outdoor formula. It’s designed to kill crop pests without harming vegetation. (Do not spray plants with the indoor formula.)
